The Razor E100 was one of the first Razor Electric Scooters to be produced and is still to this day the worlds number 1 selling electric scooter, and for good reason. The E100 has had several revisions across the years but only for the better. The original belt driven models have been replaced with chain driven ones, eliminating the need to replace worn belts. The folding mechanism & height adjustable handlebars are upgraded to the sturdier T-bar design and the variable throttle that was susceptible to rust now replaced with on/off micro switches for easy maintenance free operation.

The E100 offers up to 40 minutes of continuous use from the 24v (2X12v) lead acid fully sealed battery driving the low torque quiet chain driven motor found on the latest models to a very respectable 10mph. With an overall weight of around 29 lbs the younger rider can easily manage to carry the scooter in and out the house for use.

The E100 features a pneumatic front tyre for a comfortable ride and a urethane rear wheel for longevity, this combination offers a scooter that can be used in most conditions.

With the younger child in mind Razor has implemented the ‘must push to 3mph before the motor engages’ method of starting, thus stopping that unexpected jolt you see from other manufacturers jump on & go models. The Razor E100 offers a twist throttle accelerator which is simply on or off & a brake lever which gently applies the brake but also cuts the motors power ensuring the scooter stops safely & under control.

When not in use, the E100 can be stored in an upright position using the retractable kick stand, & with its low weight can certainly be carried home by mum or dad after the school run.  If you are looking to pack the scooter in the car please note the scooter does not fold so you need clearance for the height or to undo the 2 hex bolts to remove the handlebars.

The E100 requires some assembly but fortunately the battery, charger and tools are supplied in the box and it is just a case of slipping on the handlebars, aligning & tightening the hex bolts on the collar clamp & then charging the batteries*, and then checking the pressure of the front pneumatic tyre with the handy gauge extender located in the end of the handlebar.

*Please note that the first battery charge should be for at least 12 hours rather than the usual 8 hours & batteries should be charged once per month even if the scooter is not used

Our Verdict:

Overall we think the E100 is still the greatest addition to the Razor electric scooter lineup and have not come across a more versatile, better made alternative on the market from any brand. The Razor E100 is a simply must buy Electric Scooter for any child.
